Bob Emerson, Varsity Women
Coach Bob Emerson returns for his 13th year of coaching. He's applying his coaching expertise to the varsity women to bring about some expected wins this fall.
Bill Butler, Boatmaster
Bill Butler began his rowing career in the summer of 1999, where he learned to row at Hiawatha Island Boat Club. Bill immediately fell in love with the sport, joining Binghamton Crew in the Fall of 1999 and rowing as a lightweight with the club through the Spring of 2001, at which point he graduated. He coached the Varsity Men's squad for a year after his graduation from the University. He has since learned the skills of fixing and repairing shells, and currently holds a highly important position with the Crew team as the Boatmaster.
Dan Hogan, Volunteer
Dan Hogan coached the Varsity Men for 16 years. Currently, he's a volunteer to the BU Crew.
Patty Benda, Novice Women
Patty Benda, '03, has returned to help coach the Novice Womens' Squad this year. Originally from White Plains, NY she came to Binghamton University in the fall of 1999 and joined the crew team following in her older sister's (Chrisine Benda '98) steps. While on the team Patty was a coxswain for the mens novice team, womens varsity and mens varsity teams. She coxed for a 4+ for the Head of The Charles and was part of a lightweigh 4+ her senior year who placed 2nd at states! After graduating Patty has been very active in the Greater Binghamton Area, serving as President for the Johnson City Junior Chamber and now on the New York State Jaycees board of directors. She currently works at the YMCA of Broome County as the Aquatics Director. Patty has high expectations for this novice womens' squad, as they have already shown great strength and teamwork!
